Second-Stage Pandemic Burnout

If you’re sick of trying to not get sick, and if this new sickness (the one caused by avoiding pandemic sickness) is starting to negatively impact your mental health, well-being, and sanity, you’re not alone. Consider the words of Todd Katz, executive vice president and head of group benefits and MetLife, based on the company’s most recent Employee Benefit Trends Study, finding that workers across the board feel markedly worse today than a year ago. “Malaise, burnout, depression and stress — all of those are up considerably.” The simple truth is Americans are distracted, depressed, and less productive with work, despite the lack of distractions, and most of us are struggling to find healthy solutions.
